CMAO & ICMA singed Affiliation Agreement

On 12^th of February 2008 two of the leading Local Government Association City Managers’ Association Orissa (CMAO) of India and International City / County Management Association (ICMA) of United States of America signed Affiliation of Agreement for promotion of professional development in Urban Sector.

ICMA is a local government leadership and management organization with a mission to create excellence in local governance by advocating and developing the professional management of local government worldwide. Where as CMAO is a Network of Local Governments and Authorities for sustainable urban management and human settlement, is a, nonprofit organization formed by City Managers & Municipal Leaders of Orissa to addresses the changing needs of managers and leaders of Local Governments & Authorities from small towns with populations of a few thousand to bigger cities serving several thousands. The affiliation will have following objectives:

1. To strengthen the ties between local governments in the United States of America and the State of Orissa, India for promotion of democratic local government.

2. To undertake joint efforts and exchanges of ideas and information for the betterment of each organization.

3.  To jointly promote the values and ethics of professional management and be the voice for local chief executives worldwide.

4. To build strong relations between American & Indian city managers.

5. To replicate success stories.

6. To replicate value added services for building efficient city managers.

This Affiliation Agreement is the 20th such agreement worldwide between ICMA and a national or sub national city managers association. After signing the agreement both Mr. Ed Daley, ICMA President and Mr. Piyush Ranjan Rout, CMAO Executive Director expressed that this Affiliation will strengthen the relation between two organization in building Knowledge Networks among city managers
