On 15.7.2008 Honorable Chief Minister Sri
Naveen Patnaik Laid the Foundation Stone of Rs-754 Crore Integrated
sewerage system for Bhubaneswar at Nayapali. The Orissa Water Supply &
Sewerage Board, a Government of Orissa undertaking under Housing & Urban
Development Department, prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for
“Integrated Sewerage System for Bhubaneswar City” with technical
assistance from IIT, Roorkee for an estimated cost of Rs. 754.23

various capacity building programmes in four Urban Local Bodies (ULB) of
Orissa. The activities include conducting training, documentation,

CMAO at the
Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC
2008). The
Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC
2008) convened from 4-6 March 2008, at the
Washington, DC Convention Center in the US. WIREC 2008 consisted
of a Ministerial Meeting, a business conference, a trade show
exhibition and side events. More than 3000 participants from 118
countries registered for the Ministerial Meeting, including
approximately 100 ministerial representatives. Over 4000
individuals registered to participate in the business
conference, trade show and side events.

Launch
of the International Year of Sanitation 2008. On 21st November
2007 the UN launched the International Year of Sanitation (IYS)
to put the current global crisis at the forefront of the
political agenda. The ceremony included statements of high level
participants and was well attended by UN Member States, NGOs,
citizen groups, academics and the private sector as well as
members of the Secretary-General’s Advisory Board.
